Pyar Kiya To Darna Kya is the story of two young hearts; Muscan (Kajol) and Suraj (Salman Khan) who come from different backgrounds and meet in college and fall in love.
Muscan has been raised in the village by her over-protecting brother Vishaal (Arbaaz Khan) and Thakur Chacha (Dharmendra). Suraj, raised in the city, is rich and spoiled, and neglected by his parents. In their first meeting, Suraj is attracted to Muscan. Slowly they become friends and realize their love for each other.
Vishaal, Muscan's brother, comes to visit her at college. Suraj mistakes Vishal as Muscan's boyfriend and they get into a fight. Vishaal decides to take Muscan back to the village and Suraj decides to follow them. Upon arrival, Suraj pleads to
Vishaal for Muscan, but he is turned down and told to leave the
